Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge

The Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge is an idyllic span of nationally protected woodlands and wetlands. The refuge follows along the Tennessee River and offers locales for outdoor excursions: hiking trails, boardwalks, and access points for water activities. A bird watcher's paradise, Wheeler provides overwintering grounds for the endangered Whooping Crane. Come hear the cranes’ “whoop” for yourself as you enjoy the purest and safest way to appreciate the Alabama wild.
